An assessment of existing energy demand and future potential on-site renewable energy generation, including wind turbines, was required at Duart Castle to address the high operational energy costs for an eminent historical tourist attraction.

SRE undertook a six-month period of wind monitoring to identify actual wind data and the optimal location for a small scale (<15kW) wind turbine.  Analysis of the resultant data identified the potential for offsetting up to 30% of the annual electrical demand of the site and ongoing technical advice is supporting an application for Carbon Trust funding and the submission of a planning application.
